The Good
"Wildfire Season," Jobi Riccio: I've been waiting for this song to come out since I heard Jobi play it at AmericanaFest last year — a song about climate change that actually conveys the urgency of our collective situation. Plainspoken, cutting, potent; this is what country music is all about. — NW
“My Own Way,” Emily Hines: Something gorgeously rich and textural going on here, a bit Nick Drake, but love the no-bullshit modern lyrics: “I’m in my old ways again/rewriting texts to my friends.” - MM
"Bar Fight," Kassi Ashton: A cool, unorthodox song that still fits loosely in a pop country mold — yes, like the rest of this album it would be even better not shrouded in a mess of reverb (she doesn't need it!) but I'm happy for another strong entry on the deluxe edition. — NW
