The Good

***The Neo-Neo Trad Corner***

"Change The Man," Abbey Cone: Cone gives a super traditional honky-tonk sound a fresh spark with an out-with-the-old message in lieu of the same old beer n' boots retread. — NW

Marlboro Man,” Midland: Sorry haters, Midland were some of the earliest adopters of the neotrad trend, and I hope they’re coming back to claim their flowers. This one is much more mild midland, but it’s good for them to show they have the chops for slow burnin’ stuff too. - MM

"Why Not Whiskey," Austin Michael: No need to reinvent the wheel when the wheel sounds good. Michael has the vocal chops to make his nostalgic sound convincing, unlike any number of his nominally honky-tonk Texan peers. — NW

I Ain’t Tryin',” Braxton Keith: More Western Swing than neo-trad, but hearing these sorts of old school, dancehall ready stuff coming from major label artists is super exciting. I feel like our surrogate father, Ray Benson, would approve? - MM
