The Good

“Might Be Dangerous,” Tyler Braden featuring Kaitlin Butts: Does it drive me insane that the only way for a woman to get entry onto country radio right now is on a duet with a dude? Especially since the woman is the more talented of the pair? Well, yes. But at this point, do what works, and if this gets Kaitlin Butts on the radio I am all for it. I much prefer the Vince Gill duet on Roadrunner, but I’ll take what I can get. - MM

***Three Albums To Buy***

Want, Esther Rose: I got to see Esther do some of these songs live earlier this year, and they were so rich and affecting and vulnerable; as a person who has a below-average tolerance for introspective singer-songwriters, I was compelled the whole time. "Rescue You" was particularly affecting — as in I was full on weeping — and on the record the production is giving big The Past Is Still Alive vibes (very positive). Certainly worth a spin or several. — NW

Little Blue, Kristina Murray: Groovy, bright honky-tonk tunes with effortless feel. A wonderful vibe! — NW [I love this record too, been a consistent repeat listen for me. Just such a solid, succinct collection from someone who really deserves to have her moment - MM]

From Newman Street, Kassi Valazza: Understated, moody country-folk with a Joni-ish tint. Intrigued to give this one some more listening time. — NW
