The Good

Mae Estes

“Snakeskin,” Tanner Addell: “Hard to break a heart when you’re from a broken home.” Tanner Addell has this very effective and very honest way of weaving extremely real life shit into melodic bops, and this song is no exception. - MM

"Mr. Fix It," Mae Estes: Waiting for Mae Estes to break feels a little like waiting for Lainey to break; she's great, and it feels like all the ingredients are there but for whatever reason (sexism) none of her super solid songs have been enough to push her over the edge. I don't know if this is going to be the one that makes the difference, but she's adding to a pretty impressive catalog in the meantime. - NW

“Nose on the Grindstone,” Tyler Childers: A new studio version of the fan-favorite produced by Rick Rubin - even more stunning than before, if that’s possible. Whiney purist babies are mad he replaced the “fucked” with “messed,” while real heads know that mammas need to be able to play this for their babies. It’s life or death., afterall - MM
