Now, on to the picks…
The Good
"Tennessee Rise," Tennessee Freedom Singers: If you want to feel warm and fuzzy and better about the world, listen to this song, recorded by some of the most recognizable voices in the game, including Brittany Howard, Maren Morris, Brittany Spencer, Amanda Shires, Allison Russell and about a zillion others. It's wonderful, and in support of Senate candidate Gloria Johnson who is running against incumbent and noted horrible person Marsha Blackburn. We need the Texas version, but it's like a honky-tonk tune called "Eat Shit Ted Cruz" (spitballing here). — NW
Songs Not Bombs, Vol. 1: Incredible artists on a compilation of new recordings with 100% of the proceeds going to the Palestinian Children's Relief Fund — including Lizzie No, who we just spoke with! The most obvious purchase in the world, if I do say so myself; "Another War" and "Have Mercy," No's contribution, are absolutely gutting. — NW
"Ya Pedo Quién Sabe," Grupo Frontero and Christian Nodal: This is country music!! It is basically the "Tennessee Whiskey" intro, plus there is pedal steel!!! It also goes, like basically every Grupo Frontera song. — NW
