The Good
“People, People, People,” Zach Russell: I really love a song like this that jauntily gives no answers - not preaching acceptance of each other, but rather, just the shitty state of affairs we all live with on a daily basis. “People gonna be people, just like people been people, since people been people” - somehow the most effective political song of this election period. - MM
"Let the Rich Go Bust," The Down Hill Strugglers: Self-explanatory. Any anti-capitalist country has a home here. — NW
"Cancel Culture," Crys Matthews: "There's a whole lot in our culture we can cancel if we try." — NW
"Hard to Make Money," Fruition: Same story, radically different style; not quite sure this qualifies as country, it's much more in the vein of R&B/lite funk than most of what we feature in this newsletter — but hey, it sounds good and certainly has a refrain I can get behind. — NW
