DRTI Country & Americana Grammy Hopes, Fears & Predictions
Greetings from Nashville, Tennessee, where I start this post the same way I did last week: worried for my neighbors who still don't have power and worried for the world, which makes talking about a television show feel a little silly at times. But look - I love the Grammy awards, as you probably know by now. Not because I love the idea of giving trophies for art, but because it's a whole evening to celebrate artists I love, scream at the television for those I don't feel, uh, quite so passionately about and have yet another reason to vigorously discuss the music of the past year not as a distraction from the world around us but as a way to cope and reckon with it (all art is political, sorry folks).
Because country and Americana artists didn't make it into any of the all-genre categories (something I take major issue with), we're just talking about the country, Americana and folk categories here. Keep reading for the rundown of nominees, who we hope will win, who might actually win, and then make your own predictions - print this out and circle some favorites, or just join us in the comment section here. If you make this a drinking game, we don't judge. Whatever you gotta do to get through the days at this point.
Because most of these won't appear on the main telecast, tune in to the Premiere Ceremony at 12:30 p.m. PT/3:30 p.m. ET on the Grammy YouTube channel to see who wins.
